Introduction

In the chapters so far, we've looked at some of the different parts of the Facebook APIs, and how we can use the ActionScript 3 SDK in a general sense to perform actions on Facebook.

In this chapter, we're going to be looking at news feeds and profile feeds in particular. News and profile feeds are available for Facebook Users, Pages, Applications, and Groups, as part of their Graph API connections.

When we reading data from these feeds, we see that they can be populated by four different types of Graph API object: Status message, Link, Photo, or Video.

Only the first two of those are objects which can be posted directly to those feeds; photos and videos get uploaded elsewhere, to other Graph API connections, and the appearance of those photos and video items in the news feed is decided by Facebook.
