LTI Tool Providers


Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI) is a standard created by the IMS Global Consortium to integrate third-party tools with all major learning management systems, such as Blackboard Learn. LTI tools normally function as external web applications and, when registered within our system, allow instructors to create links to LTI tools within course-content areas. But before we register an LTI provider we must first configure the global properties.

Within our Blackboard Learn System Admin tab, we click on the Building Blocks link under the Building Blocks module. Here we find a link titled LTI Tool Providers. This link takes us to our LTI Tool Providers page. Our configuration starts by clicking on the Manage Global Properties button.

Our first area to set up is the Feature Availability section. This allows us to enable the LTI tool options in our courses and organizations. We then must decide how to manage the Tool Provider links:
