Notifications


Back in Chapter 4, Creating Courses in Blackboard Learn, we briefly discussed notifications, but now let's take a deeper look. Notifications are system-generated messages about specific actions within a Blackboard Learn course or organization. These messages can cover a wide variety of notification types and delivery methods. Before we start that discussion, we must learn how to enable notifications within our Blackboard Learn environment.

Setting up general notifications

In the Tools and Utilities module, we click on the Notifications link. This brings us to the General Notifications page. This page allows us to control the general options within our environment. Our first selection allows us to enable or disable the notifications tool entirely. A new Blackboard Learn installation has the notification tool turned off by default. Some organizations might not see a need for this tool and won't enable it.
