Summary


Over these pages, we have gained a general understanding of how we can secure, monitor, and improve our Blackboard Learn environment. We discussed how to ensure an encrypted connection between the user's browser and our system. Our conversation also included the new security features that allow us to protect our system from users trying to gain unauthorized access.

We then discussed the system information options available within the Blackboard Learn Administrator Panel including the system configuration and system reporting areas. Our discussions moved into a lengthy review of the monitoring, optimization tools, and parameters available to improve our web server and Tomcat server performances within Blackboard Learn. We also learned how to find the time of day when our system is most heavily used. Our discussion also gave us the basic rule when working to optimize, which suggests we make only small changes in our many configuration parameters.
