Creating an army of clones

In this task you will create an army of two clones (not much of an army admittedly) using the Crop and Garbage Matte tools. The Garbage Matte tool unsurprisingly does what it says, it masks, or Matte's out, those parts of the image that are not good to you; the Crop effect performs a similar function, although its parameters are more tightly restricted (as you will see in this example). You'll also use the Garbage Matte tool to create the illusion of the MechBot stepping out from behind the wall of the building and the Crop filter to create the illusion of clones.

Before you do any of that, you need to mark your clips in order to set the timing of events. Clones are often used in film making to create the sense of having more extras on the set than you can actually afford, but the timing of conversations and events need to be carefully controlled, both when the scene is shot, and now here when it is being edited. To do this you will use your trusty clip marker.
