Capturing the actions of learners


As you have noted in previous chapters, capturing actions from viewers sets your e-learning video apart as a true interactive learning experience. So far, we have discussed the features that enable interactivity. Interactivity means we can allow the learners to take an action, such as clicking on the video as it is playing, and the video player will react by performing certain commands. In our samples, we built a simple interaction to replay a short section of video so that viewers can review the information.

Why track learner actions?

So we know allowing video interaction is good. What about keeping track of those actions? The question inevitably follows, "If the learner can interact with the video, how can we keep track of what he or she did?" And of course, if you allow them to take a quiz within the video, it would be good to know if they answered the questions correctly or incorrectly.
