Maintaining Oracle Enterprise Scheduler (ESS)


In this section, we will look at general maintenance for the Oracle Enterprise Scheduler. This includes the following areas:

  • Starting or stopping the scheduler

  • Purging scheduler logs

  • Troubleshooting scheduler issues

Start and Stop ESS

The ESS components that can be managed are:

  • The ESSAPP application (Oracle Enterprise Scheduler instance)

  • Components (Request Processor and Request Dispatcher)

The ESSAPP application is deployed on the ESS Managed server, which allows us to control the start/stop for a Request process, a Dispatcher, and an Oracle ESS instance. It also provides an interface to view and edit the job definition, search for job requests, purge polices, and so on. We can use the Fusion Middleware control to start/stop an instance and ESS components.

To start/stop the Oracle Enterprise Scheduler instance, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to Fusion Middleware Control (http://hostname:port/em).
