Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) 12c is packed full of features and has a fresh approach to information presentation, system management, and security. OBIEE can focus on information that needs action, alerting users when conditions are met. OBIEE can be used for data analysis, form production, dashoarding, and workflow processes. We will introduce you to OBIEE features and provide a step-by-step guide to build a complete system from scratch. With this guide, you will be equipped with a good basic understanding of what the product contains, how to install and configure it, and how to create effective Business Intelligence. Summary

In this chapter, we covered a lot of ground. We learned how to create an analysis and a Dashboard. We looked in depth at some of the options available to the OBIEE developer when building analyses and building Dashboards. There are dozens of features, with dozens of settings in each feature, so take some time to familiarize yourself with the option.

It might seem like a lot to digest at first, so you may want to re-read the chapter, and explore more features, for example, other available views. You can also create your own examples and experiment.

We covered analyses, including column display properties, Filters, different views, functions, and shared columns. We built Dashboards, including Dashboard Prompts, pages, conditional sections, and links.

In the next chapter, we will look at automating the production of analytical data.
