Converting all the characters in a string of text to lowercase

Conversely to the Uppercase transform option, there may be occasions where you want to do the opposite, and change text that is purely uppercase or a combination of upper and lowercase to lowercase only. You can use the Formatter by Zapier Text action event with the Lowercase transform function. For example, if the string of text were The Ice-cream Parlour, the transformed text would be the ice-cream parlour. Microsoft Excel users will recognize the similarity of this Zapier functionality to the LOWER formula in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to convert text to lowercase.

Here are a few examples of when you can use this transform option:

  • When your contacts make a purchase through your Shopify website, you might want to generate unique user aliases for them to use in your other apps. If you use their name in the alias, you might want to make it lowercase for consistency.
