Troubleshooting with client authentication logging


Chapter 12, Lync 2013 Debugging, explores some of the troubleshooting tools commonly used to track a problem on the server side of Lync 2013. However, when talking about authentication (especially when we have an issue that affects a few users), an important source of information is the log that we are able to register on the Lync client. Debugging tools are enabled in different ways on the various devices.

How to do it...

  1. For iOS and Android, the option to record information is in the Advanced Options that we are able to open from the logon screen. Both operating systems use e-mails to send logs. iOS composes a dedicated message with all the required files attached, while Android attaches a file named lync_diagnostic.zip.

  2. Windows Phone enables recording from the settings menu. Logs are saved as .jpg files in the Saved Pictures folder. However, do not send the file using an e-mail because this way, you will lose all the log information. Instead...
