Windows Azure Pack provides two ways of connecting to virtual machine for tenants:
Remote desktop connection
Windows Azure Pack Console Connect
Remote desktop connection in a Windows Azure Pack Cloud works in the traditional RDP mechanism, requiring network connectivity to VM guest OS, RDP to be enabled, firewall rules to allow RDP communications, and lots more. If machines need to be accessed on Internet (service provider cloud scenarios), public IP would also be required.
The other option, Windows Azure Pack Console Connect, solves the challenges of RDP method. It provides access to VM guest OS through Hypervisor host using remote desktop gateways. Console Connect does not require any network reachability to the guest OS.
The Console Connect gives access to tenant users of their VM in similar way as of VM connect for Hyper-V manager over SSL using remote desktop gateway.
