Technical requirements

To link concepts to hands-on examples, we will leverage a series of tools and platforms commonly used to interact with containers, Kubernetes, and Secrets management. For this chapter, we will ramp up with a friendly desktop graphical solution:

  • Podman Desktop (https://podman-desktop.io) is an open source software (OSS) that interacts with containers, runs local Kubernetes instances, and even connects with remote platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and more. We will use the Go programming language in this chapter. To install Go on your system, you can follow the instructions from the official documentation (https://go.dev/doc/install).
  • In this chapter, minikube will also be used. To install minikube on your system, you can follow the instructions from the official documentation (https://minikube.sigs.k8s.io/docs/start/).
