Securing the platform moves beyond the user experience portion to the networks and tools where platforms reside. Data and information move through channels, requiring secure practices to ensure adequate security. In this case, we are not talking about those on the platform but the path through which they reach the platform as the network tools. These include a variety of protocols such as Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), Internet Protocol (IP), Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) the most common as well as some others. Communication models can be point-to-point, client-server, or publish-subscribe but each involves handshakes within the network.
