The migration process requires the latest software updates on SBS 2003. Although updating and patching a system just prior to turning it off might seem a little unusual, it is required as the migration tools rely on the latest updates.
We need to install all the updates we know about and then double-check the system afterwards.
The easiest way to do this is to go to Microsoft Update and select Custom.
If you have Windows Update on your system in the Start menu, it will only check the core Windows files and not those of Exchange and SQL. To change this, click Change Settings and scroll down to choose updates for All Microsoft products, which will result in Microsoft Update being provided as an icon in your Start menu instead of Windows Update.
