Managing Untangle NGFW interfaces

In the initial configuration wizard, we have configured both the internal and external interfaces. Any additional interfaces are disabled by default and must be configured before we can use them. This section will cover the different use cases of the additional interfaces. In addition, it will cover the different configuration settings of the Untangle NGFW interfaces.

Common uses of additional interfaces

This section concludes the different uses of additional interfaces; detailed configurations will be described later in this chapter. The different uses include:

  • Additional WAN interfaces: Adding additional WAN interfaces is useful to have a reliable Internet connection by failover / load balancing between the different interfaces. Just configure the new interface as a WAN interface and enter the IP configuration details provided to you by your ISP.
  • Additional internal interfaces: You may have different subnets inside your network. In the initial configuration...
