Microsoft periodically releases product updates that are meant to fix issues with the current supported iterations of applications in Microsoft's product ecosystems. The updates are released to address any known issues with the product, and/or improve the functionality of the product. Product updates can be obtained and installed automatically in a variety of ways, including but not limited to automatically through Windows updates, through a software update process using System Center Configuration Manager, manually by, say, downloading and installing the update packages.
