Once installed, AD CS is ready to issue certificates to computers and users. In this section, you will learn how to manage certificates and templates.

Managing certificates

As mentioned earlier, a certificate is a file that contains information about its owner, such as their email address, their name, the certificate usage type, and AIA and CDP URLs. All of this information will be issued from the certificate template. Each certificate also has a pair of keys, private, and public keys, which will be used in the processes of digital signing, identity validation, and encryption.
