Following on from a general introduction to Google App Engine (GAE), we can now turn our attention to fully managed event processing. In this chapter, we will start working with Google Compute Engine and discover how to integrate serverless operational management tools in our environment. More specifically, coverage of event processing including Cloud Functions begins here.
This chapter will begin with a quick overview of Cloud Scheduler and Cloud Tasks, which are services that provide support to Google Cloud, followed by an introduction to Cloud Functions, after which we will develop a small application to utilize these services.
