Understanding the differences in environments

QlikView comes in many shapes and sizes and with extra add-ons too. These can have a dramatic effect on how your server is configured. In addition, there are many ways that you can license the use of your documents. All have their advantages, and all have cost implications.

Background

How your server runs depends on the basic server version you are using. It could be Small Business Server, Enterprise Server, or Extranet Server. You need to know whether it is a Full license or a Test license and whether QlikView Publisher is installed and licensed.

Once the server type is established, next come User Licenses (sometimes referred to as CALs). There are currently four types to choose from: Named User, Document, Session, and Usage.
