Functions are another one of those Android and Kotlin topics that must be present in our code from the very start, yet are worth delaying a full explanation for later. For functions, their time has arrived.
Functions allow us to break up our code into more manageable chunks. This process of dividing into manageable chunks is called abstraction because by dividing up our code, giving little pieces of responsibility to a few or many functions, the purpose of these smaller units of code becomes more abstract—less like the overall purpose of our app but clearer to read, test, and debug.
