In the previous chapter, we talked about how to utilize QoS in a NGN including flat and HQoS, layer 2 only CoS, and layer 3 ToS, along with DSCP and traffic shaping.
In this chapter, we will talk about securing a NGN using network controllers and other mechanisms, such as network taps and monitoring devices.
By the end of this chapter, you should be able to:
- Understand traffic steering
- Create a DMZ
- Send traffic through a firewall using open and proprietary network controllers
- Mirror traffic to a monitoring device
