How and when the updates should be deployed and installed in the network is specified with a group policy (discussed next). More precisely, you have to configure the group policy objects (GPOs) Basic SUS Config and Scheduled Install SUS Config.
The GPO Basic SUS Config configures the updates in such a way that the user can decide when he or she would like to install the updates. Normally, this GPO is used on servers available in the network. However, it can also be used on the clients when it is left to the user to decide when he or she would like to install the updates.
A time-controlled download and the installation are configured using the Scheduled Install SUS Config GPO. At this juncture a time schedule is specified, and accordingly the client updates are downloaded from the SUS Server and installed.
