Summary

In this chapter, we presented an overview of monitoring and management with Java and an introduction to the JMX technology. In particular, we went into detail on how Infinispan provide different statistical information about the cache and operations to manage the grid and its resources, through the use of MBeans.

We saw how to use JMX clients such as JConsole and Visual VM to manage and analyze your Infinispan data grid.

There are a variety of other monitoring tools that are more professional; during this chapter, we have seen how to install and work with RHQ to manage all your Infinispan instances in detail. Another powerful monitoring tool that your organization should consider using is Hawt.io (see http://hawt.io/), which has a lightweight and modular HTML 5 web console with a nice Infinispan plugin, which adds support to visualize your caches.
