Microsoft Silverlight 4 and SharePoint 2010 Integration

We learned a lot in this chapter about developing Silverlight 4 applications in SharePoint 2010 sites that interact with data in lists by performing insert, update, and delete operations with WCF Data Services. Specifically, we created a new Silverlight 4 RIA that allowed us to view, update, delete, and insert new items in a remote SharePoint list through HTTP requests. We were able to work with a strongly typed data model that represented the different lists and field choices.
We were able to explore an alternative to the SharePoint Silverlight Client Object Model when we have to interact with SharePoint lists. We are now able to take advantage of the powerful SharePoint 2010 WCF Data Services and we can choose between them and the Silverlight Client OM according to our applications' needs.
