Microsoft Windows Server AppFabric Cookbook
Performance gain is a key driver for distributed in-memory caching. However, if Windows Server AppFabric cache is not configured properly, it may lead to a number of issues including performance degradation.
Windows Server AppFabric caching provides a number of performance counters out of the box. These performance counters are installed along with Windows Server AppFabric and help with monitoring and troubleshooting scenarios, especially pertaining to the (lack of) cache performance.
Windows Server AppFabric's caching related performance counters are divided into three categories:
Cache related (called AppFabric Caching:Cache): Covers cache (that span across different hosts) level statistics.
Host related (called AppFabric Caching:Host): Covers host level statistics.
Secondary host related (called AppFabric Caching:Secondary Host): Covers secondary host related statistics. This is only applicable for High Availability configurations.
