Connecting with GitHub

To configure the GitHub connector in Defender for Cloud, you need Organization Owner privileges on GitHub and must have Contributor or Security Admin privileges in the Azure subscription where Defender CSPM is enabled. You will notice that during the configuration of the GitHub connector, you will need to install the Microsoft Security DevOps action in GitHub, and to be able to do that, you will need GitHub Write privileges in your GitHub organization.

Deploying the GitHub connector

To deploy the GitHub connector in Defender for Cloud, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Defender for Cloud dashboard and click Environment settings, under the Management section. The Environment settings page appears as shown in Figure 7.1:
