Overview of this book

Microsoft Azure is a prominent public cloud provider, recording the highest user base growth in the year 2017. Microsoft has prominent certifications that help architects, developers, and administrators gain hands-on knowledge while working on Azure. 70-533 is one such advanced-level certification, which deals with infrastructure solutions on Microsoft Azure.

Implementing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions starts with an overview of the certification and an introduction to Microsoft Azure. Next, you will learn how to plan and implement virtual machines and containers, followed by designing and implementing service apps. As you make your way through the chapters, you will learn how to implement and manage virtual networks and Azure identities, as well as the Active Directory infrastructure in a hybrid environment. In the concluding chapters, you will learn how to plan and implement storage and security, and business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) strategies. You will also automate and monitor cloud management operations in Azure. By the end of the book, you will have covered all of the modules, along with the practice questions at the end of each chapter, which will be extremely helpful in passing the 70-533 certification exam.

Preface

Microsoft Azure has been one of the top two prominent public cloud providers recording the highest growth in the year 2017. Microsoft has hosted some prominent certifications that help architects, developers, and administrators gain hands-on knowledge while working on Azure. 70-533 is one such advanced-level certification, and it deals with the infrastructure solutions on Microsoft Azure.

This book will act as an overview of the certification and then quickly deep dive into giving an introduction to Microsoft Azure. Next, you will understand how to implement and manage ARM virtual machines and containers followed by designing and implementing App Services. The next set of chapters will help you understand how to implement and manage Virtual Networks, and manage Azure identities as well as manage Active Directory infrastructure in a hybrid environment. The last set of chapters will look into planning and implementing Azure Storage, Security, and Backup and Recovery Services followed by managing and monitoring Azure Operations and Automation.

This book will cover all the modules along with few practice questions at the end of each chapter, which will help you through the 70-533 certification exam.

Who this book is for

This book is targeted at senior cloud professionals who already have experience with the Azure ecosystem and want to take their Azure knowledge to the next level by completing 70-533 certification. Sound knowledge on Azure ecosystem is compulsory. This book assumes some basic knowledge of engineering and some basic knowledge of what it’s like to deliver a software.

What this book covers

Chapter 1, Introduction to Cloud Computing, explains the basics of cloud computing technology.

Chapter 2,Overview of Microsoft Azure, covers the basics of working with Microsoft Azure.

Chapter 3Implementing and Managing Azure Virtual Machines, explains how to deploy, manage, and configure Azure ARM virtual machines.

Chapter 4, Implementing and Managing Containersin Azure, covers how to create and manage container-based solutions in Azure.

Chapter 5, Designing and Implementing Azure App Service Apps, explains how to design Azure Services using ARM, Azure CLI, and PowerShell.

Chapter 6Implementing and Managing Azure Virtual Networks, explains how to implement and manage Azure networks, traffic filtering, and how to design a connection strategy depends on different context.

Chapter 7, Managing Azure Identities, covers how to manage and monitor Azure AD and cross-premises capabilities of Azure IDaaS solutions.

Chapter 9, Managing Azure Operations and Automation, explains how to automate and monitor cloud management operations in Azure.

To get the most out of this book

Before starting, you need to have a basic understanding of on-premises virtualization technologies, including VMs, virtual networking, and virtual hard disks are recommended. A good understanding of network configuration, including TCP/IP, Domain Name System, Virtual Private Networks, firewalls, and encryption technologies will help you a lot on your cloud journey.

Try to get some basic knowledge of the basic concepts of Active Directory, such as domains, domain controllers, replication, Kerberos protocol, and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol. Experience with a scripting environment such as Bash is recommended.
