With VM storage polices created, the job is half done, unless you assign the policies to virtual machine disks.
You need to have VM storage policies created before it can be assigned. Read the recipe Creating VM storage policies for instructions on how to create them.
The following procedure will guide you through the steps required in assigning VM storage policies to VM disks:
Connect to the vCenter using vSphere Web Client.
Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Alt + 4 to bring up the VMs and templates tree in the vCenter Inventory.
Select a VM from the inventory and navigate to Manage | VM Storage Policies.
While in the VM Storage Policies tab, click on the Manage VM Storage Policies button.
In the Manage VM Storage Policies window, select Home VM storage policy and click on Apply to disks to set the same policy to every disk attached to the VM. You can also set the VM Storage Policy individually on those virtual disks...
