Connecting VCM and vC Ops


vC Ops is able to use adapters to connect to other VMware and third-party solutions to collect more metrics and relationships. Some adapters, such as vCenter Server and vCenter Configuration Manager, are built into the vApp. However, if we're using the standalone installation of VCM, we will need to download and install it.

Adapters talk to the Collector , which is built into the Analytics VM of the vApp. Since the vCenter Configuration Manager is built-in, it's fairly simple to connect to vC Ops.

Use the following steps to connect VCM to vC Ops:

  1. Open a browser and connect to the admin UI at https://<vC Ops_IP_Address>/admin.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the Registration tab, and click on the New Registration button.

  3. Fill out the fields in the vCenter Configuration Manager Registration screen according to the information for our VCM server. The user account that we use here cannot be an interactive account. Use a service account dedicated to VCM, such as the service...
