We've been over a typical vCenter Configuration Manager setup and also how to connect vC Ops to VCM. Once it was all connected, we saw how VCM inserts a Compliance badge into our vC Ops UI. We can see change events and compliance rules for any object within our virtual environment as long as we have proper rules, templates, and mappings. Some of the templates can be downloaded from VMware and third-party sources, while others can be created by the administrator.
The Compliance score ultimately affects the Risk major badge, but keep in mind that a lot of this is user defined. So, be careful while mapping templates if they're not applicable or perhaps should be weighted less than other templates. VCM is a pretty complicated solution in that there is just so much to it. It would be highly recommended to research VCM thoroughly before applying any changes to our production environment.
