Creating and managing products

Now that your store has been configured, it's time to add products to your website. You'll need a Products page to hold your product items, so if you have not already created one, now is the time to go into the Pages panel and create one.

Tip

You can have multiple Products pages if you want to group some products together but separate them from others—for example, a page for men's clothing and another for women.

Refer to Chapter 4, Creating Your Site Framework: Pages, Items, Collections, and Navigation if you need a reminder of how to create a Products page.

Product types

Squarespace currently offers three different types of products that you can use in your Commerce store:

  • Physical: These are real-world goods that require being shipped to the customer. Customers will need to select a shipping method, and you will need to manage the order and mark it as dispatched in the Orders section of your site.

  • Digital: These are downloadable files, such as documents, photos...
