Summary

Firebase have earned a spot as a top contender in the platform as a service arena because they are arguably providing the best developer experience when compared to the services we covered this far. They provide a similar experience to Heroku, but with a number of improvements out of the box, including HTTPS by default and optimized content delivery. Moreover, I get a warm fuzzy feeling when I know that my application code, API logic, and data can all be managed from one location—Firebase's Forge Dashboard. It is clear that developers around the world have noticed Firebase and have begun using their services within production applications. For example, a few days before Google IO 2014, Nest announced that their device APIs are built atop Firebase. In my mind, this is a huge vote of confidence in the service from some of the top companies today.
