The versioning tools can be grouped into two categories, per-user tools (which affect the user and how they manage content), and the content itself (you can create and manage versions of the content). Here we will look at the tools for the content themselves, and we will look at the user-centric content-versioning tools in Chapter 6.
We can use versioning for a number of different things:
Creating new versions of content ready to be swapped into place
Managing content changes
Restricting who can edit live changes, but allowing them to edit a copy of a live version—something we will see in Chapter 6
If we select versioning from a page's menu, we are taken to the page's versioning management section.
The versioning page itself lists the versions of the page and allows us to create new versions of either the page and content, all sub-pages, or just the record of the page.
