Chapter 9. Going Further with Our Component Development

"Always take care of the details; the difference lies there."

At the end of our last chapter, we made a working component and a little module that, though it was quite simple, enabled us to show our news to visitors. We saw the basics of working with data (such as inserting data, editing, and eventually deleting it) in a Joomla! component.

In this chapter, we will keep working with that component, but try and make it even better, more useful, and with a better interface. I'm sure that at this point in time, all of us want to make some more interesting jQuery features, and that's what we are trying to do in this chapter.

We will be working on both the admin screen and the frontend of our component. Both parts are quite important, and we need to take care of them. In this chapter, we will look at the following topics:

  • Adding a table paginator plugin to our admin zone

  • The textarea autogrow plugin
