To get a handle on implementing HA/DR for SharePoint running in AWS, you need to first understand AWS and some of the specific service offerings that are available and relevant to a SharePoint implementation. AWS is a collection of remote computing services that together create a cloud-computing platform. This platform provides a myriad of products in various functional categories, including computing, storage, messaging, content delivery, networking, and so on. But AWS is also characterized as a full IaaS provider, and it is this capability that we would be harnessing for a SharePoint infrastructure. Global infrastructure – regions and Availability Zones
Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2)
Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS)
Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC)
Elastic Load Balancing (ELB)
Amazon Route 53
