In recent years, the scope has changed; replication is being used more for data warehouse loading and online upgrades or migration of applications. Oracle has addressed the increase in data volume and replication performance by integrating its products to provide robust and feature-rich Enterprise solutions.

When coupled with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), GoldenGate can provide an end-to-end real-time data delivery solution that performs complex data selection, mapping, and transformation within the data replication stream. The topology consists of two main parts: data delivery and data transformation, the latter being the responsibility of ODI.
