In this chapter, we introduced an imaginary custom surfboard company and its supply chain process. Given the firm's objective of improving on the time it takes to fill customer orders, the chapter went through a Watson Analytics project that focused on its supply chain and a perceived problem with assembling the boards on time. After analysis, we saw that the issue was really with suppliers, not assemblers, a key insight isolating the cause of delivery performance.
