Sidhartha Mukherjee, or Sid, began studying and applying Six Sigma during his MBA days at Symbiosis (2006-08). As a part of the Operations Management curriculum, he had the opportunity to attend an introductory GB-level training in Six Sigma, conducted by KPMG. The certification process required working on an industrial Six Sigma project, giving him a chance to augment his classroom learning with first-hand implementation. The challenges of real-world process improvement including statistical data analysis, value streams, and change management proved too exciting, and Sid decided to make it a post-MBA career choice. He started his process improvement career with WNS Global Services (formerly a captive unit of British Airways) in Pune. Since then, he has worked in Process Improvement roles with Genpact (formerly GE Capital) and HSBC Technology and Services (as a Process Reengineering Consultant), in addition to freelance projects. Today, he works as a Process and Quality Consultant with Cognizant Business Consulting and is based in Pune, India.

In his career spanning 8.5 years so far (up to the time of publication), Sid has had the opportunity to work on process efficiency and cost reduction, process reengineering, and variation and NVA reduction across a wide variety of domains including finance and accounting services, banking and financial services, and IT application and maintenance services (his current field of engagement).

Sidhartha is a BE and MBA by education—he received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in 2003, and an MBA in Operations Management in 2008 from the Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management (Symbiosis International University) in India. He is also a certified Master Black Belt (Indian Statistical Institute), as well as being a certified BB from ASQ and SSMI.

In addition to projects, Sid is passionate about delivering performance improvement training using Lean and Six Sigma methods, and is a passionate people-person who believes in driving sustainable, long-term change through a combination of metrics, reengineering, and motivation. A firm believer in personal and professional Kaizen, Sid's vision for himself is to contribute to organizations by offering a value-based skillset of performance, change, and project management.

Beyond work, Sid can be found spending time with family and friends, travelling to offbeat locations, volunteering at blood-donation camps, and listening to music, especially when navigating the treacherous and variation-afflicted terrain of the Calcutta area traffic.
