Licensing for Microsoft Dataverse for Teams
Microsoft Dataverse for Teams is part of the offering that comes with the Office license, now known as Microsoft 365. As illustrated in Figure 11.1, with the Microsoft 365 license, you can build apps, flows, and bots while using other Office products such as SharePoint lists or Excel as the data storage option. These apps, bots, and flows will be able to run standalone; that is, you can run or invoke them separately in their own player or browser as needed. However, when you modify an app to add a Dataverse connector and then run it, it would trigger a license check failure. That is, you will be prompted to get a separate Power Apps, Power Automate, or Power Virtual Agents license. However, if you wish to just use Dataverse for Teams and not Dataverse, as seen through all the chapters in this book, you can continue building and using such apps, bots, and flows with your Microsoft 365 license.
