Installing Exchange 2013 in an existing Exchange organization


Getting ready

In the following few topics we will show you how to install and configure Exchange 2013 in an existing Exchange 2010 organization. In order to keep things practical, the examples in this chapter are built upon a fictional scenario:

The organization is called "Exblog" and is currently running a single Exchange 2010 Service Pack 3 multi-role server (EX2010-01). The organization is preparing to move to two new Exchange 2013 servers: EX2013-01 will take on the Client Access Server server role and EX2013-02 will have the mailbox server role installed. Although a single Exchange 2013 server could be used, we are splitting CAS and mailbox across two servers to clearly distinct actions that apply to the one or the other.

Users are currently spread over two mailbox databases, DB01 and DB02. A single Public Folder Database (PF01) contains Public Folders for each of the departments. These Public Folders will also be migrated....
