Chapter 9. Fine-tuning the End User Experience

We have now almost completed our Horizon View deployment and delivered virtual desktop machines to the end users; however, in this chapter, we are going to look at how we can fine-tune the end user experience. In the same way as we optimized the operating system to run as a virtual desktop machine, we need to ensure that we are delivering the best experience and performance across the network to our end users.

The first thing we will look at is putting in place the policies that help control the end user experience, along with what users are able to do, from within their virtual desktop machine, all of which is controlled and managed from Active Directory.

In order to deliver this policy-based delivery, we need to prepare Active Directory with some Horizon-View-specific administrative templates and configuration.

We will then go on to look at how we can measure and optimize the delivery protocol, which is PCoIP.
