Chapter 2. Deploying Hyper-V Hosts

So far, you have seen how important it is to understand the Hyper-V architecture and the impact it will have on the VM and host performance. Planning the virtualization environment is crucial as most of the time, you are unable to make a major change in the environment without interruptions. New technologies like Shared Nothing Live Migration, which will be discussed in detail in Chapter 8, Implementing Live Migration and Replica, can minimize the impact of infrastructure changes and host management to the VM. Nevertheless, changing your environment during production is always painful. Deploying your host the right way from the start is just as important.

Hyper-V can be implemented in three different ways—Windows Server with graphical user interface (GUI), Windows Server without GUI, and Hyper-V Server.
