Summary

In this chapter, you learned the concept of a failover cluster, and what High Availability will provide to a virtualization environment. You saw how to implement a Microsoft failover cluster and configure a Quorum to make sure your environment continues to work even with the failure of a node, or when a communication error occurs between the nodes.

You've seen how to manage the Startup Priority in order to ensure that the applications start after their requirements are already up. Then we've seen how to leverage the benefits of Live Migration and how to avoid Live Migration problems. After that, you saw how the failover cluster service can monitor a VM application.

To finish, we introduced the Shared VHDX feature that allows for a guest cluster scenario. In the next chapter, you will see how to implement Live Migration without a failover cluster and how to implement Hyper-V Replica with and without a cluster.
