Built-in insights

AWS Systems Manager uses built-in insights (integrations with other AWS services and features) to provide you with an overview of how your resources are operating within your resource groups. Currently, these built-in insights can review your resource groups against the following:

  • Configuration compliance and history (integration with AWS Config)
  • CloudTrail
  • Personal Health Dashboard
  • Trusted Advisor

We will discuss these one by one. But first, let's access these insights using the left menu by selecting Built-In Insights:

This will present the following simple dashboard, where you can then select each of the following insights:

  • Config: This shows the config details, where you can filter to see how your resources are responding to compliance checks configured within AWS Config, in addition to the resource history:

  • CloudTrail: This shows the latest AWS calls made to the instances within the group:
