State Manager

This is used to help you maintain a consistent and measurable state of your EC2 instances. Some of the key uses of State Manager include the following:

  • Configuring network settings
  • Bootstrapping your instances, allowing you to install specific software on boot
  • Ensuring the installation of specific agents is updated on a regular schedule
  • Joining Windows-based instances to a domain
  • Running scripts on instances

By using State Manager, you can help to reduce the configuration drift that can be experienced by instances over time through various different updates and configuration changes. This helps to maintain your compliance requirements across your fleet of instances.
