Once crucial aspect of every SysOps engineer's job is understanding the environment that they operate on. AWS wants you to be able to understand how your application behaves and be able to analyse and detect when your environment is operating out of bounds. You will be thoroughly tested on this topic and it should not be taken for granted. When preparing for the exam, crucial aspects to take a look at would be as follows:
- Make sure you know how to read metrics and understand what each metric is telling you about the state of your environment
- Make sure you understand the soft and hard limits that are put on AWS services
- Make sure you understand how to collect logs and diagnostic data when an issue is present
- Understand how to analyze trends in AWS
