Log management

We will cover different log files available for troubleshooting in Chapter 14, Troubleshooting Your Environment. However, for now, I would like to focus on the importance of long-term log and event collection of your environment. You should not only monitor your vSphere infrastructure, but other components of the physical infrastructure or even VMs to get a better understanding of what is going on within your environment.

Manual log and event checking might be useful for troubleshooting, but you should consider deploying some centralized tools that can be used for long-term analysis of the environment.
