In this section, we will talk about survival analysis. We first review the statistical details of this method and then talk about causal survival analysis which combines the power of causal inference with traditional survival analysis.
Survival analysis is a branch of statistics that deals with analyzing the time until an event occurs. It studies a variable that has a start time and an end time when a specific event occurs. Here, the focus is on the time between the start time and the end time (the corresponding event for that). One example is the time to death after a disease. In this case, the start time can be the diagnosis of the disease, and the end time is death. Here, the researchers want to know the effect of a specific drug on the survival time.
