Architecting Power BI Solutions in Microsoft Fabric
By :
Power BI, at the time of its launch in September 2013, was positioned as a data visualization tool. In other words, it lets one design colorful reports and dashboards using data. Users could quickly connect to data stored in Excel spreadsheets or text files, build reports, and gain insights from data. To some, Power BI, during its initial days, was like a sophisticated version of Microsoft Excel, allowing one to do slightly more with data.
After a decade (at the time of writing), is Power BI still a visualization tool? Yes and no. Yes because it still allows you to visualize your data, and no because it’s not just data visualization, but a lot more. Power BI lets one connect, clean, and transform data, infuse AI into data, integrate with lots of other tools/services, and of course visualize data too. In other words, Power BI lets you experience your data, and it usually offers a pleasant experience.
