Architecting Power BI Solutions in Microsoft Fabric
By :
We started with a gentle introduction to Power BI, touching upon the high-level report development process. Subsequently, we learned about Power BI Desktop and the various phases in report development, namely connecting to a data source, transforming data, building and enhancing a semantic model, and finally adding visualizations. During these topics, we learned about data connectivity modes, namely Import, DirectQuery, and Live Connection, measures, calculated columns, shared datasets, and a lot more.
Once a report is developed, it needs to be published and consumed. So, as a logical next step, we learned about the Power BI service and workspaces, the tools used for publishing and distributing reports. We also learned about various other components of the Power BI service, such as dashboards, scorecards, and Power BI dataflows. Finally, we introduced other Power BI components, such as Power BI Report Server, Power BI Gateway, paginated reports, and real-time datasets.
